New LASP proposal ahead with input from industry

TSA expects to get a new LASP proposal under way next week, possibly eliminating some of the proposals that caused an uproar last fall when the first proposal was released and applied many current security practices required for commercial aircraft to private aircraft. TSA Assistant Administrator for Transportation Network Management John Sammon told the House subcommittee involved in the legislation that the upcoming proposal would "seem reasonable." Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, who chairs the House subcommittee on transportation security and infrastructure protection, said, "it is clear that this rulemaking process did not take into account some serious concerns raised by stakeholders."
