Only 4 of 5 ad-based e-mails reaching U.S. inboxes

In the first half of the year, roughly one in five e-mails with ad messages didn't land in the in-boxes of North American users, e-mail marketing and list management firm Return Path has found. Google's Gmail is the most stringent ISP in terms of delivery of permission-based marketing e-mail, according to the study, followed by Hotmail, MSN, Comcast and AOL.
