Republic prepares to compete with its clients

Republic Airways has long viewed itself as a "contractor" for the big airlines, but with its purchase of Frontier Airlines and Midwest Airlines, Republic itself will soon be a big carrier, competing with the majors it currently serves. According to CEO Bryan Bedford, Republic's new strategy is driven by diversification. "If we can draw revenue from a wide variety of sources, regardless what the broader industry conditions are, we'll likely do better," Bedford said.
