Stimulus funds help N.C., but long-term fix needed

The federal stimulus plan is starting to help construction workers in North Carolina, according to Berry Jenkins, highway heavy division director at AGC's Carolinas chapter. However, transportation spending funded by the stimulus plan will peak this fall, he said. He noted that many projects are short term, which raises questions about a long-term solution for the state's transportation budget requirements.
