Unrest in Iran could diminish Hamas, Hezbollah

The struggle in Iran between the current leadership and protesting reformists could wind up weakening the Hamas and Hezbollah organizations -- which enjoy financial and materiel support from Iran's military forces. With the Revolutionary Guard focused on domestic unrest, U.S. President Barack Obama and allies might find a wedge opportunity to pressure Hamas -- via Egypt and Saudi Arabia -- to fuse with the Palestinian Authority in a unity government under Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
