Gifted students are mathletes in summer enrichment program

Math is a sport for gifted middle- and high-school students who are participating in AwesomeMath, an advanced summer math program at the University of Texas at Dallas. The three-week program has students -- who come from all over the world -- focusing on logic and solving complex problems, rather than completing more straightforward math exercises. "These are the athletes of the mind," program director Titu Andreescu said. "Most of them are a lot better than students in college, including math majors."
