SEC considers holding field hearings on the municipal market

The Securities and Exchange Commission is looking into holding a series of field hearings as it delves into the municipal market. The SEC is considering making changes in the market to bolster protection of investors. "What we're going to do is try to be broad, concentrating on some of the hot topics, particularly the concerns we've heard from both institutional and individual investors," said Commissioner Elisse Walter, who is leading the inquiry.
