Study: Policies must keep up with innovations in advanced biofuels

Regulatory adjustments are needed to keep up with the advancements in next-generation biofuels, according to a study from the University of Illinois' Energy Biosciences Institute. "Getting regulatory approval for new biofuels is currently a time-consuming and costly process," said Jay P. Kesan, a professor at UI. "By removing some of the uncertainty and some of the expense without compromising on the regulatory concerns, you are also removing some of the disincentives to entering the biofuel market," Kesan added.
