Certain amino, fatty acids boost insulin production in type 1 diabetes

Youths with recently diagnosed type 1 diabetes who consumed the most foods rich in branched-chain amino acids and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids had increased insulin production for a longer period of time than did those with lower intake, a study in the journal Diabetes Care found. The findings suggest that such dietary modifications may lower the risk of long-term complications associated with diabetes.
