ESPN hires New York Times statistics guru Nate Silver

ESPN has hired influential blogger Nate Silver from The New York Times. Silver, who could announce his new post as soon as today, will write analytical pieces and likely make TV appearances. The latter could include "Olbermann," the forthcoming talk show on ESPN2 led by Keith Olbermann, as well as on ESPN corporate sibling ABC News during big election years.
