Greater risk of insulin adverse events seen in older diabetes patients

Diabetes patients ages 80 and older were 2.5 times more likely to visit the emergency department and roughly five times more likely to be hospitalized because of insulin-related adverse events compared with those ages 45 to 64, researchers reported at the American Diabetes Association 73rd Scientific Sessions. The findings were based on national surveillance data between 2007 and 2011.
