IMF's Lagarde wants US ruling against Argentina reviewed

Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, says she will propose that the IMF board ask for a US Supreme Court review of a lower-court ruling ordering Argentina to pay bond buyers who refused an exchange after a 2001 default. "We're not supporting one party against the other," she said. "We're simply alerting the court to the detrimental consequence that the finding would have on our ability to discharge our mandate, which is intended to maintain financial stability in the world."
