Verizon Communications is weighing the pros and cons of the Canadian cellphone market, Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said last week, but he stopped short of confirming more specific media reports in recent months about Verizon Wireless' interest across the border. "If you look at the population of Canada, about 70% of that population is between Toronto and Quebec. That’s adjacent to the Verizon Wireless properties," Shammo told analysts. He also commented on the carrier's wireless spectrum position, saying the company was in "in good shape for three to four years."
