Report examines U.S. biomass potential

Nearly 680 million tons of biomass per year will be available in the U.S. by 2030 for bioenergy needs, according to a report by the Union of Concerned Scientists. Iowa is expected to be the No. 1 provider of crop residues, with about 31 million tons likely to be available in the state by 2030, the report found.
