Food labeling bill clears Congress

The House yesterday approved a bill requiring food manufacturers to list on product labels -- in "plain English" -- whether any of the eight most common food allergens are contained in products. President George W. Bush is expected to sign the bill, which cleared the Senate earlier this year.
