Scientists discover gene related to age-related macular degeneration

Researchers have discovered the identity of a gene they say is a key to understanding how age-related macular degeneration develops, leading to blindness in the eye affected. The scientists said the hope is that the identity of the gene, fibulin-5, could lead to development of medicines and prevention for the disease.
