Philadelphia approves black history textbook

Philadelphia's new African-American history course for all high school students will use as its primary textbook a streamlined version of "The African-American Odyssey," a popular college textbook. The adapted book will offer more simplified vocabulary, less scholarly debate over historical interpretations and some additional references to Philadelphia.
