Microsoft, Yahoo! to hit delete button sooner on user data

Microsoft and Yahoo! are the latest of the major search engines to address user privacy worries by pledging to keep data for a shorter period of time. Microsoft today is expected to unveil plans to retain data for 18 months, unless the user indicates otherwise, while Yahoo!'s plan calls for deleting cookies and user information after 13 months.
