Prefab housing gets sexy, sensible at MoMA exhibit

A new exhibition at New York's Museum of Modern Art aims to show that prefabricated housing doesn't have to be drab and repetitive. Running through Oct. 26, the show titled "Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling" features five complete homes constructed in a parking lot outside the museum. Designers stress that prefab houses can be cost- and energy-efficient, while computer-aided design allows for "mass customization" to avoid the monotony associated with the last prefab boom, which followed World War II.
