Wildfires pose growing risk to insurers

The California wildfire season may have lengthened by two months, thus presenting an even larger risk to insurers. In addition, large evacuations of areas threatened by fires has resulted in more claims filed. The information provided by A.M. Best hasn't caused it to change its ratings yet, but Best says it could "foresee instances where more prevalent wildfire losses in tandem with other catastrophe losses could pressure insurers' balance sheets."
