Amazon explores ad model for Kindle

Amazon reportedly has filed patent applications to place contextual advertising on its popular e-reader, the Kindle. Amazon is the largest player in the e-book market, but Sony and some other companies have a share. An estimated 13 million Americans are expected to be using an e-reader by 2013.
