PC makers to get code for Microsoft Windows 7

Microsoft has announced that it is ready to release the code for Windows 7 to computer makers, enabling firms such as HP, Dell and Acer to begin loading the soon-to-launch operating system on their new machines. Windows 7, the successor to Vista, is scheduled to be available in stores Oct. 22.
