Allen: U.S. to allow BP well to remain sealed amid storm

The U.S. government will permit BP to keep its Gulf of Mexico well sealed despite the threat of Tropical Storm Bonnie, said retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, adding that surface vessels at the leak site had begun evacuation preparations Thursday night. "While these actions might delay the effort to kill the well for several days, the safety of the individuals at the well site is our highest concern," he added.
