Kim Kearns, senior director of hotel relations at BCD Travel, said most business travelers will choose to adhere to their company's hotel choice instead of maximizing their hotel-loyalty points. "Most travelers want to make the choice that is best for their company. If it comes down to saving money by staying at a hotel where the traveler does not have 'status,' they typically will stay where [their company's travel policy mandates] they need to stay," Kearns said. But she also noted that "in the current competitive environment, many hotel chains will offer a status match to companies with which they are working closely."
