Experts call for stronger ONC authority on HIE, privacy standards

Increasing ONC's authority to devise data-sharing and security measures will help address the technical concerns that impede efforts to boost patient safety and quality of care, industry experts said in a report. "Privacy and security couldn't be add-ons to any system of health care exchange," one expert said. "They had to be engineered in from the very start."
