Nonmedical use of drugs is a form of child abuse, a pediatrician says

A pediatrician says giving children a drug for nonmedical use can result in serious outcomes and may be an under-recognized form of child abuse. He reviewed 1,439 reports of pharmaceutical abuse from 2000 to 2008 and found an average of 160 cases a year in which parents maliciously gave their children medications, including sedatives.
