Rail, bus systems require $77.7 billion in repairs

Bringing the nation's railways, buses and other transit systems into good condition would cost the country $77.7 billion, according to the Federal Transit Administration. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said, "As a nation, we must lead when it comes to infrastructure development and commit ourselves to rebuilding America." Washington D.C.'s Metro system estimates it alone needs $11 billion in upgrades.
