Terahertz waves eyed as long-distance security solution

Scientists say terahertz rays can discern hundreds of compounds at great distance, making them ideal for airport security and military applications. T-rays are already used in some full-body scanners, but researchers are now finding ways to make them effective at a distance of 60 feet or more.
