ATA applauds House bill that says EU emissions scheme is illegal

The Air Transport Association supports legislation in the House that opposes the European Union's efforts to subject airlines from the U.S. and other countries to its system for trading emissions. "Subjecting airlines to the EU unilateral system will be counterproductive to the environment and will result in the loss of U.S. jobs as it siphons money away from carriers, impeding their ability to invest in new and more efficient technology," said Nicholas E. Calio, president and CEO of ATA.
