2012 brought women more opportunities in U.K. boardrooms

Some of the largest companies in the U.K. appear to be providing more opportunities for women to join powerful leadership positions. Last year, women accounted for 47% of first-time appointments to FTSE 350 boards -- up from 11% just a few years ago. The latest research, however, shows that the appointment of women to FTSE 100 boards has slowed, with Tesco's appointment of Liv Garfield one of the few exceptions.
