Altair's transportation-enhancing technology grew from study of bones

The study of how human bones grow was the inspiration behind Altair, whose software is being used extensively to improve and lighten automobiles and aircraft. Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Brennan earlier in his career developed software that mimics how the body grows bones in response to stress. It was James Scapa, now Altair CEO, who realized that the same software could be applied more broadly in engineering and manufacturing.
