Asian-Pacific markets edge up after Japanese election

Asian-Pacific markets posted modest gains Monday after the party headed by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe scored a landslide victory in an election for the upper house of parliament. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.5%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.3%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 and China's Shanghai Composite each moved up 0.6%. South Korea's Kospi added 0.5%. India's Sensex was down 0.1%.
