Opponents not sweet on sugar buyback

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is countering a large sugar supply from Mexico by buying back 100,000 tons of sugar and retiring sugar-import credits. "I just want to buy sugar on the free market," said Kirk Vashaw, president of Spangler Candy. "It would allow us to grow our business domestically, and there are a lot of people in our industry who just want to do business in the United States."
