Rising rates solve one pension problem, but another arises

Rising interest rates are dramatically improving the funded status of corporate pension funds, but funds that use liability-driven investing strategies face a new challenge. The corporate-bond market may not produce enough long-duration bonds for major pension funds to replace $2.1 trillion of investment-grade bonds maturing in a decade or more.
