Software glitch leads Philips to recall certain defibrillators

Philips Healthcare is recalling certain lots of its HeartStart MRx monitor/defibrillator devices over two reports of patient harm tied to a software glitch in the systems. "Philips is notifying all affected customers and will provide a software correction free of charge," the company said in a statement. The FDA has labeled the recall as Class II.
