Study: Shoppers purchase more calorie-rich items when hungry

A small study in JAMA Internal Medicine showed people who shopped while hungry bought more high-calorie items compared with those who ate before shopping. The results demonstrate that even short periods of going without food affect the brain's reaction to high-calorie foods, researchers said.
