Volunteers offer academic, life-skills mentoring to boys at N.C. school

The Tiger Paw Mentoring Academy at Sunnyside Elementary School in Vander, N.C., provides volunteer mentors to work with fourth- and fifth-grade boys on improving their schoolwork, developing life skills and planning for their future. "We want to give them the ability to see a future to work toward. We're building young men," said Jermaine Stearns, a teacher's assistant who started the program.
