Watt nomination could undo Senate's cooperative spirit

After reaching an agreement to stop opposing President Barack Obama's appointees to several agencies, the Senate now faces controversy in Federal Housing Finance Agency director nominee Rep. Mel Watt, D-N.C. So far, the only Republican senator who has spoken in his favor has been fellow North Carolinian Richard Burr. The outcome of his nomination could show whether the accord reached last week over nominees will be short-lived.
