Web, tech tools level playing field for small businesses

Small businesses are finding that technology such as social media, websites and mobile payment systems can lead to faster growth and help them compete with larger operations. For example, Brian Sykora, who owns a frozen fruit pops business, was able to find the $13,000 he needed to open a storefront on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. Doug Povich, owner of a lobster-roll company, says he keeps customers coming back by using Facebook and Twitter.
