Will we see more "girl power" on the big screen?

Women-led summer films like "Lucy" and "Maleficent" point to an increasing demand for powerful roles on the big screen for females, and yet the film industry continues to be filled with male-dominated films, writes Scott Mendelson. Only 15% of major Hollywood releases employ a female lead and many still play into the "damsel in distress" stereotype, he writes.
