Study: Gleevec may cause heart problems, but still good against leukemia

A Pennsylvania researcher reports the Novartis leukemia drug Gleevec may cause heart problems but says it is nevertheless too good for most patients to abandon. Dr. Thomas Force said he was trying to make doctors aware that Gleevec and other new drugs could have significant side effects and that they should watch for symptoms.
