Goldman faces competition in electronic-trading platform

Merrill Lynch, Lehman Bros., Morgan Stanley and Citigroup are developing an electronic-trading platform for unregistered securities. The platform would compete with similar systems, including one operated by rival investment bank Goldman Sachs. The platforms trade 144A issues, which are expected to grow in popularity among asset managers.
