Massive shift in school population results in plummeting test scores

Florida's St. Lucie County schools redrew attendance boundaries during this past school year to avoid busing, resulting in shifts of nearly half the district's population. When the results of the state's standardized exam were released, the grades assigned to more than half of the city's schools plummeted.
