Providence, HHS settle on deal after privacy breach

Providence Health & Services of Seattle has paid $100,000 fine and will work to prevent any future compromises of information following a 2005-2006 breach of privacy in which the information of 386,000 patients was compromised. The Health and Human Services Department reached this resolution with the company after tapes, discs and laptops containing sensitive data were lost or stolen from the home health care company.
