AICPA backs consumer protections, urges delay on vote to form agency

The AICPA is among nearly two dozen business and professional organizations that joined with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to voice concerns over provisions of a House bill to create a regulatory agency charged with consumer protection for financial products. While stating that they support consumer protections, the groups asked House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., to delay action on the bill until all its implications and ramifications can be thoroughly studied.
