Intensive summer-reading program focuses on literature

A summer program for middle- and high-school students with a love of literature immerses them in the works of Homer, Virgil, Voltaire and others. The Great Books Summer Program, which is offered at Stanford University or Amherst College, was started eight years ago to give underprivileged students a pre-college experience.
