Washington state makes a smart change to math class rule

The Seattle Times editorial board praises the Washington state Board of Education's decision to lift a requirement that middle-school students who pass high-school-level math classes must repeat the classes in high school. The old rule penalized students who attempted to get ahead on graduation requirements, or who excelled at math, the board writes.
