Medical marijuana is becoming respectable in California. Entrepreneurs with storefront dispensaries now worry about access for the disabled and regulatory filings instead of police raids. Jan Werner invested $40,000 to open a dispensary after watching the collapse of the auto industry, where he'd worked for 36 years. With California's total pot market estimated at $14 billion, the industry is spawning ancillary businesses such as advertising, consulting and even lobbying.
