Leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee introduced a proposed revision of the Toxic Substances Control Act on Thursday. Among other things, the proposal clarifies the term "mixtures" to avoid an overreach in regulatory authority and prioritizes 19 chemicals for safety evaluations by the Environment Protection Agency. American Chemistry Council President Cal Dooley said the revision was a good start. "We recognize this is a complex issue and a lot of hard work went into crafting this legislation, but this is just the beginning," Dooley said. Read ACC's statement.
