More U.S. pet owners opt to buy pet insurance

Pet insurance is slowly gaining popularity in the U.S., which veterinarians say could be because it can ease the burden on owners in pursuing life-saving treatment for their pets. "My feeling is that if people have insurance ... they might be more inclined to pursue treatment and extend the dog's life significantly," one veterinarian said. Experts advise pet owners to study the policies before proceeding with the purchase.
